THIS year’s Melksham Carnival Royalty have been chosen at a special evening held at Melksham Town Hall.
Melksham Carnival Queen 2018 is Sharon Vivian and Melksham Carnival Princess 2018 is 14 year-old Hailie Heathcote.
“I’m really excited to represent Melksham and I’m looking forward to all the upcoming events,” said new carnival queen Sharon. “I like meeting people, I do that in my job, it’s nice to meet new people.”
The new carnival princess Hailie, said, “I’m really happy and nervous, but excited to see what’s going to happen. I’m looking forward to trying something new, this is very different to what I’m used to.”
The Melksham junior carnival royalty were also chosen at the event, with 9 year-old Sidney Birch crowned Butterfly Princess and 5 year-old Emily Vivian crowned Fairy Princess. This year’s Page is 7 year-old Henry Alford.
Butterfly Princess Sidney said, “I was really shocked and speechless to be chosen. I’m really excited to be part of the carnival royalty.”
Henry the new Page said, “I feel good and excited and I’m looking forward to my first event.”
Royalty guardian, Beth Dark said, “It was really difficult for the judges to choose this year as all the candidates were brilliant. I would like to thank everyone who entered.
“I’d also like to thank our amazing judges, Annabel of Belle of the Ball Bridals for the beautiful tiaras, Angela Butland for donating the stunning hand-made sashes and as always, the committee for helping make this event a great success.
“The committee and myself are really pleased with the results and look forward to a year of awesome events.
