Bowls Club’s Valentine coffee morning

Just like Mole in ‘Wind in the Willows’, after a long hard winter, Avon Bowls Club Ladies have popped their heads into the open air and are planning the first coffee morning of 2018.

Pauline Baker from the club says, “This will be held on Valentine’s Day, Wednesday 14th February commencing at 10.30am at our club house in the grounds of Melksham House and while we cannot compete with the selection of goodies in Ratty’s luncheon basket. we can promise home-made cakes, biscuits, soft drinks, as well as cakes and preserves for you to buy and take home for your beloved’s tea on this special day.  Who knows, you could even win a raffle prize as a bonus!

“So, why not come along on Wednesday 14th, bring the children or the grand-children as it’s half-term week and you may be on grandparent duties. We cannot guarantee the weather, but we can guarantee you will be warmly welcomed as always by your hosts, the ladies of Avon Bowls Club.

“We look forward to seeing you on Valentine’s Day and meanwhile, if you are looking ahead to spring and summer, and thinking, ‘hmm, bowls, do you know, I might just like to know more about it,’ then drop by and we will be there to answer your questions.  It’s a cracking game, played in a friendly atmosphere by ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls from 9 to 90!

“Incidentally, our first social event of 2018 was actually held last week when we celebrated Burns’ Night, with traditional haggis on the menu, followed by a variety of entertainment performed by members, and there is more to come as the year progresses.”
