There were quite a few members missing at the January meeting due to illness. We were however pleased to welcome a new member who has recently come to live in the village.
Those that were there enjoyed Dr Francis Burroughes’s amusing talk entitled ‘Can you play Jerusalem?’ It was very entertaining to hear tales of visits to many WIs large and small, some near and some quite a distance away, some in huge halls and some in small wooden huts and all anonymous of course. He has a dry sense of humour. Dr. Burroughes talks on various topics. We have invited him on two other occasions and he never disappoints.
Members were invited to sign up for a visit to Wiltshire Music Centre to see live screenings of opera and ballet from the Royal Opera House, in February.
We are having a skittles night and supper at The White Hart in Atworth at the end of the month.
We continue to have craft afternoons twice a month, meeting at a member’s house to have a chat and a cup of tea. A group from the WI organise a couple of walks a month ending up somewhere for a welcome cup of tea or coffee. Our next meeting will be on February 19th.
Helen Snowball,
President.
