Lions Club in urgent need of new members

MELKSHAM Lions Club is now in desperate need of new members and worry that if the situation does not improve, the club will not survive.

Melksham Lions president Keith Mead said, “The current members’ average age is now 75 years and consequentially we have, over the past two years, had to cut back on our fund raising activities.

“The  most noticeable of which was the cut back of outings with our Christmas float in 2016 and again in 2017. This was entirely due to lack of able members or helpers to enable the Christmas Float outings to take place.

“We are now desperate for new members and if this situation does not improved very soon your Lions Club will not survive.

“The loss of Melksham Lions Club will have quite an impact on support given to families in need in the town – much of which we cannot and do not publicise in respect of their privacy.

“If you want your local Lions Club to survive, please get in touch with us via our Facebook page or our website, or come to one of our meetings on the first Tuesday in the month at the Pilot. It’s up to you!”
