THERE are plenty of opportunities to join Melksham Cricket Club this season with groups for under 8s and over 8s, ready to kick off the summer action.
Melksham Cricket Club indoor nets will begin on Sunday 4th March at Sheldon School, Chippenham, 3-4pm and will be shared with Lacock Cricket Club. Sessions will continue 11th, 18th and 25th March and will be £3 per person per session. Registrations will take place at these sessions
Young cricket sessions at Melksham Cricket Club. will be held at Melksham House cricket ground, SN12 6ES. For the under 8s, following on from last year’s successful AllStars programme it returns again in 2018, for what hopes to be an equally successful summer of AllStars activities.
The sessions are aimed at under 8s with a great first experience in cricket. It is a fun and active way to develop your child’s skills and they will learn lots – as well as make new friends – in a safe and inclusive environment.
Both girls and boys are welcome. The sessions are an hour long and coached by fully trained and vetted activators, who will deliver game-based activities that teach basic cricket skills including catching, throwing, hitting moving balls and social skills such as teamwork and communication.
They will be running two pay as you play sessions on the 4th and 11th May to give the sessions a try. Cost: £3 per session. Registrations will take place at these sessions.
Every child that registers for the All Stars Cricket programme will receive a bonus backpack full of goodies, including a backpack, cricket bat, cricket ball, personalised shirt with name, cap and water bottle
Registrations via the ECB AllStars portal.
The sessions will run on Friday 18th May, 8th June, 15th June, 22th June, 29th June, 6th July, 13th July and 20th July from 5-6pm and cost £40. They require clothing of sports kit, water bottle and rain jacket.
For the over 8s, coach Josh will be delivering the next entry level in cricket coaching both in hard ball nets, batting, bowling, fielding and match play cricket.
These will take place on Friday 4th May, 11th May, 18th May, 8th June, 15th June, 22th June, 29th June, 6th July, 13th July and 20th July from 6.15pm – 7.15pm and is pay as you play for £3 per session. The required clothing is sports kit, water bottle, rain jacket. Safety equipment and kit will be provided, but if a player has their own, they are more than welcome to bring it to use. Registrations will take place at these sessions.
