Volunteers come together for tree planting

VOLUNTEERS came together earlier this month to plant over 150 trees at Bowerhill Sports Field.

Donated by the Woodland Trust, the trees were planted along the boundary of the new Portal Road to help provide shelter from the traffic.

Clerk for Melksham Without Parish Council, Teresa Strange, said, “Air Cadets from 2385 Melksham Squadron, with members of Bowerhill Residents Action Group (BRAG) and the parish council, weren’t put off by the bitterly cold wind and snow flurries and planted over 150 trees at Bowerhill Sports Field. Thank you to everyone who came along and supported the community event.”

The team also spent some time litter picking in the area. “An awful lot of the litter picked up at Bowerhill Sports Field today was dog mess, bagged and thrown into the bushes,” said Teresa, “I’m not sure why it can’t be put into one of the many bins up there!”
