Flood warden training

ANYONE with an interest in becoming a flood warden for the town is invited to attend training sessions at the Town Hall.

The town council is particularly interested to hear from people who live in an area that is prone to flooding, such as Shurnhold or Roundponds.

It is free to attend and the sessions will be held on Tuesday 17th April and Tuesday 24th April from 6.30pm until 9pm.

These sessions enable volunteers to understand: • Who may be involved in a flooding incident and what their roles are. • What their role is within their community. • The use of personal protective equipment and importance of being safe. • The different types of flooding. • The risks/hazards in a flood situation. • The use of sandbags. • Ownerships of ditches, watercourses and rivers.

Training will be carried out by Renate Malton, flood resilience officer for Wiltshire Council.

Contact the town council on 01225 704187 for more information.
