MELKSHAM motorbike racer, Travis Vince, is off to a flying start in the new season of racing with two podium finishes at the latest round in Anglesey.
Paul Korkus reports, “Last weekend saw the first round of the Dymag 250cc National and NG Cup championship held at Anglesey in North Wales.
“Melksham based Travis Vince competed at Anglesey for the first time and notched up two podiums from three starts. Travis is no stranger to motorcycle racing as he is the son of Darrell Higgins who over the closed season built Travis a TZ 250cc Yamaha and after qualifying, Travis was 15th on the grid.
“He made a great start in his first race and was soon in the top ten overall. In the closing stages he made up places with some smooth stylish riding and finished in seventh overall and won the NG Cup class.
“He slid off his machine in his second race and was unhurt but had to start his last race from 20th on the grid. Despite this he again made a great start and worked his way up through the field and crossed the line in sixth place overall and second in the NG Cup class and is currently third in the NG Cup championship standings.”
