MELKSHAM & District Link are looking for volunteers, drivers and transport co-ordinators.
Melksham & District Link is a voluntary organisation run entirely by volunteers. They take elderly people to hospital and medical appointments who have no other way to get there.
Transport co-ordinators, who are volunteers who work from home, organise and arrange pick-up times for those who need help and usually do this every fourth or fifth week.
Drivers are needed to drive people to their appointments. They use their own car, claiming a mileage allowance for all the miles covered. They can do any hours, any days, weekdays, weekends or just a few days a month, it is their choice.
There are no special skills needed for these voluntary roles, but all volunteers must have a DBS check, which Link arrange and pay for.
Jeanette Nash press officer for Link said, “Why would you want to do this? Because you care about people and your community, because you hope someone would help your parents/family if you couldn’t be there to help, because it would be nice to get to know people, because you are a kind person who wants to give something back.”
If you are interested in either of these roles within Melksham & District Link call them on 07979 129052 or email melkshamlink @gmail.com or contact Jeanette Nash, press & publicity officer on 01225 340589 or jeanette.m. nash@gmail.com.
