MELKSHAM Assembly Hall has some great films fresh from the cinema lined up for people of all ages in the coming weeks.
This Saturday, 26th May, the Assembly Hall will be screening live-action animated comedy film Paddington 2 at 10.30am.
Settled in with the Brown family, Paddington the bear is a popular member of the community who spreads joy and marmalade wherever he goes. One fine day, he spots a pop-up book in an antique shop – the perfect present for his beloved aunt’s 100th birthday. When a thief steals the prized book, Paddington embarks on an epic quest to unmask the culprit before Aunt Lucy’s big celebration.

On Saturday 2nd June, the Assembly Hall presents the live-action/computer-animated comedy, Peter Rabbit, at 10.30am.
Peter Rabbit and his three sisters, Flopsy, Mopsy and Cotton-Tail, enjoy spending their days in Mr. McGregor’s vegetable garden. When one of McGregor’s relatives suddenly moves in, he’s less than thrilled to discover a family of rabbits in his new home. A battle of wills soon breaks out as the new owner hatches scheme after scheme to get rid of Peter, a resourceful rabbit who proves to be a worthy and wily opponent.

On Monday 4th June, British drama film, That Good Night, will be shown at 1.30pm.
Played by John Hurt, Ralph, a once-famous screenwriter, is in his seventies and terminally ill. He has two final missions: to be reconciled to his son, Michael, and, secretly, to ensure he is not a burden to his wife, Anna, as he goes ‘into that good night’.
The film is based on N. J. Crisp’s 1996 play of the same name. It is also notable for being Hurt’s final film before his death in 2017.
