BUMPER crowds gathered at King George V park for the 19th annual Party in the Park, this year with an additional evening, ParkFest, that got the people of Melksham up singing and dancing in the sunshine.

Bruce Burry, compere for the event said, “The new two-day Melksham Party in the Park and ParkFest event could not have been any better, with great bands and arena acts, as well as great crowds and weather.

“It all started on Friday evening with local band, Local Heroes who were supporting the ParkFest headlining band The Oasis Experience, who you could be forgiven for thinking you were watching the real thing, singing the many Oasis hits that the crowd sang along with.

“At 1.00pm on Saturday 21st July, the gates opened to welcome large crowds that came in early to enjoy the 19th Melksham Party in the Park. On stage was a variety of bands and singers from the PSG Choir, Sarah Deer, and The Mother Pluckers, to guitar legend Innes Sibun, The Sultans of Swingers and the PITP headliners The Bootleg Bee Gees; all were received  well and set a new high standard for PITP.

“In the arena on Saturday, families were entertained by In2Dance dance group, The New Male Majorettes and the BMX MAD stunt team  to name a few. Also, to keep all family members entertained were some great side attractions including a mobile cave experience, giant deckchair, Ferret World and Segway transporters.

“On behalf of all the PITP committee, I would like to thank all who helped and all who attended to put Melksham on the map with another great event.”

Mark Stansby, chairman of Party in the Park said, “I have to say that I am amazed by the town’s continued support for the event, and helped by this glorious weather, you supported us in your thousands.  Thank you!

“A huge thank you must also go out to our brilliant team of volunteers, including Westbury ATC, all of whom put in so many hours over the weekend. I must also give a special mention to those attending the events who also took some time out to help litter pick on Friday night and on the Sunday morning. We are so grateful!

“And finally, I must thank the Melksham Music Festival committee for their dedication over the past 12 months in planning the weekend and making it all happen. It was a great job, team.”
