Melksham Poppy Appeal launched

THE Royal British Legion in Melksham launches this year’s Poppy Appeal at the end of the month. The organisers are hoping to have another record-breaking collection this year.

Poppies will be available from shops, pubs and clubs from Saturday 27th October until Saturday 10th November.

Volunteers will also be selling poppies, lapel badges, regimental crosses, and other Poppy Appeal items in Waitrose, Sainsbury’s, Asda and Leekes from Monday 29th October onwards.

One of the Poppy Appeal organisers, Trevor Paterson, said, “As in previous years, we will be looking for volunteers to man our tables. You can volunteer for as many hours and days as you can spare during this period, and we will be most grateful for any contributions. We were very pleased with last year’s collections in Melksham and surrounding villages, where we raised a total of £21,850 – an excellent amount for a town the size of Melksham.”

If there is anyone who would like to assist this year, please contact Trevor Paterson on 07884 050097 or e-mail trevorpaterson747@hotmail. com, or contact Ken Graham on 07887 941482.
