Avon Bowls Club

To follow All Hallow’s E’en which by then will be done and dusted, the pumpkins relegated to the compost heap – or the bin, recycling one of course – Avon Bowls Club are holding a Coffee Morning on Thursday 1st November, which is All Saints’ Day for the uninitiated, in aid of club funds.

Press officer, Pauline Baker reports, “Venue? Avon Bowls Club House in the grounds of Melksham House. Time? From 10.30am. There will be home-made cakes on offer, the chance to buy home produced goods, jams, chutneys, veggies, Christmas presents (yes, it’s not that far off now) such as lovely smellies – soaps, perfumes, etc. And of course, the inevitable raffle.

“How much? Well, it’s only £2 which is a very, very small amount for the opportunities the occasion will offer, so come along, bring your friends, mother-in-law, even Uncle Tom Cobley ‘an All and enjoy the atmosphere of a warm welcome from Avon’s own saints, the committee, together with our ever-helpful members.

“There’s plenty of free parking (within the white lines, naturally) and if  you’ve ever thought about playing outdoor bowls on a warm summer’s afternoon, here’s your chance to learn more from the devotees who wonder how they ever found time to do anything else, such is their enthusiasm for a fantastic game.

“Like to know more? Then phone 01225 700782 and Press Officer, Pauline Baker will be delighted to help you.

“Date for your Diary – Thursday 1st November at 10.30am.”
