Bowerhill Barkers’ Christmas ‘bone-anza’!

LOCAL fundraising group, the Bowerhill Barkers, is hosting a fundraising event next weekend for  Guide Dogs Southampton packed full of live entertainment, stalls, competitions, and a special visit from the big man himself – Father Christmas!

The event, on Saturday 17th November, is one of many organised by the group throughout the year to help them achieve their fundraising target of £55,000 – the lifetime cost of a Guide Dog – to enable them to name and sponsor a guide dog. Since June, the group has raised £4,500.

Group member, Caroline Fielding says, “Enjoy live music throughout the day from local singers and bands, while eating delicious homemade cakes and mince pies. Local business Primate Clothing will also be at our event and will be making commemorative mugs, and 100% of proceeds from the mugs will go to Guide Dogs. You can also buy other unique gifts from lots of local craft stalls. Have a go at our chocolate tombola, water or wine stall, lucky lollies, raffle and more!

“Say hello to the Guide Dogs and puppies popping in throughout the day and for the kids, Santa and two of his elves will be paying a visit. There will also be face painting and glitter tattoos.”

In the run up to the event, the group has launched an online auction on their Facebook page, which runs until Saturday 1st December. To follow the auction action and to bid on items such as jewellery and hand-crafted gifts, search for ‘Bowerhill Barkers’ on Facebook.

The ‘bone-anza’ will be held at the Bowerhill Village Hall on Saturday 17th November from 10am to 4pm. Entry is free. Father Christmas and his elves will be visiting at 11am to 12pm and 2pm to 3pm.
