Melksham’s One Voice Community Choir Festive show

Melksham’s One Voice Community Choir will be presenting its first festive performance this Saturday, 15th December.

Choir leader Lee Ingram wanted to pay homage to a favourite LP and so One Voice brings us a 40th Anniversary Tribute to Christmas Portrait.

Christmas Portrait is the 9th studio album by Richard and Karen Carpenter, released in October 1978. Over the years it has sold millions of units and is generally considered one of the best festive recordings ever made.

Lee says, “Our Melksham choir first met in January 2016 and has gained a great deal in confidence and ability since that time. We’ve done lots of performing but this is our first seasonal show. I’ve loved Christmas Portrait for so long and thought the choir would make a fine job in paying tribute. It’s been a real thrill hearing these songs come to life.”

The audience will get to hear some original Carpenter compositions, together with established standards like “Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire”, “Winter Wonderland” and “Silent Night.”

A 40th Anniversary Tribute to Christmas Portrait is at Corsham Town Hall on Saturday 15th December. Tickets from choir members or call Lee on 07766 244321. £8 to include refreshments.
