Biggest ever Melksham Makers’ Market!

The next Melksham Makers’ Market is on Saturday 27th August, from 9am – 2pm, in the Melksham Market Place.

It follows the July market which was the biggest ever market with a record 22 marvellous makers.

The market, which is organised by local ladies Sarah Hillman and Nicola Coleman, is in its fourth year and has grown in popularity and success.

Sarah says, “When we first started the market in April of 2019, we had around 13 makers joining us every month, with a few more for our Christmas market.  We never imagined that we’d see nearly double the number of local crafts people and small businesses wanting to be part of our market each month – we’re over the moon!”

The Melksham Makers’ Market takes place on the last Saturday of every month from April to October in the Melksham Market Place and inside the Melksham Assembly Hall for the Christmas market on Saturday 19th November.  The markets are hosted by Melksham Town Council and have a growing list of supporters.

Nicola says, “We’re so grateful to Melksham Town Council for helping us with the markets each month and especially to Hugh and the amenities team for getting up before the crack of dawn to put the gazebos up for us!

“We’d also like to say a special thank you to local photographer Linda De Santiz who comes to ALL of our markets and takes some amazing photos that help to showcase what a fabulous market we have created.  Another thank you must go to Melksham Town Crier Peter Dauncey who also comes to ALL our markets and tells the world and his wife that our market is taking place!”

Sarah added, “A final thank you to the people of Melksham for coming out each month and supporting our market; we couldn’t do it without you!  We recognise that a craft market isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but it’s a regular event that takes place in the centre of Melksham each month, that we hope brings people into town.”
