The county’s local mental health charity, Wiltshire Mind, is looking to recruit a new team of volunteer fundraisers to help raise awareness of mental health, and much needed funds.
Since the pandemic, many charities like Wiltshire Mind have seen a significant drop in their voluntary income. They receive no statutory funding, so rely on the generosity of the fundraising from communities across Wiltshire. Last year the charity helped over 300 children, young people and adults with mental health support, and since the pandemic, the demand continues to rise for those needing help.
Offering low-cost mental health support such as counselling, or support groups means having to raise £465 a day to keep the services operating.
Charity chief executive officer, Paul Mills explains, “All of our work and support is funded either by grants or voluntary donations. We are on the hunt for local passionate people to join a new friendly team of volunteers who can help raise awareness and raise funds for Wiltshire Mind. By connecting with the local community, volunteers help us build awareness of the work we do, and promote better mental health for everyone in our community.
“So, if you like meeting people, and raising money for a cause close to your heart, consider volunteering for Wiltshire Mind. Whether you have an hour a week to spare or more, volunteer fundraiser roles are a great way to gain work experience, representing the charity, and helping the community fundraise and raise awareness of mental health.”
