Melksham Makers’ Market returns

Story posted on

THE Melksham Makers’ Market returns on Saturday 27th May for its second market of the year.

Organisers of the market, Sarah Hillman and Nicola Coleman, along with Melksham Town Council, say how excited they are to be back in the Market Place each month and how much they are looking forward to welcoming traders new and old.

Sarah said, “We’ve been busy planning our markets for this year since January and are really looking forward to seeing all of our regular traders as well as some new faces too!”

The Melksham Makers’ Market is now in its fifth year and this year they hope it will be bigger and better than ever.

Nicola said, “Along with our two large Melksham Town Council gazebos which can fit four traders in each, we now have two new smaller gazebos too! This means we have room for more marvellous makers who don’t have their own gazebo. This month we’ll have 25 local artisans joining us – this could be our busiest-ever market!”

Sarah added, “We’re so lucky to have so many creative and talented people in and around our town.  Our regular traders include Katy Wilkinson (www.katywilkinson. co.uk) who specialises in handmade, contemporary jewellery; Karen Elliott Art (www.karenelliottart.co.uk) who is a local artist specialising in hand painted furniture and original work; Sandridge Brownies and Bakes (www.facebook.com/sandridgebrowniesandbakes) who keep us all fuelled with their delicious cakes on the day (that’s if they don’t sell out!), and Sunflower Macrame (https://www. facebook.com/sunflowermacrameuk) who creates the most wonderful home furnishings in macrame.”

The Melksham Makers’ Market takes place on the last Saturday of the month from April to September from 9am to 2pm. There will also be a Christmas market held in the Assembly Hall on Saturday 18th November from 10am to 2pm. For more information, please contact, themelkshammakersmarket@yahoo.com
