WHILE the gardeners in the community may be sowing seeds and digging borders, the ladies of the local Children’s Society committee are busily thinking of chocolate cakes, fruit cakes and scones galore preparing for the return of Melksham Open Gardens on Sunday 23rd July.
This year’s event is the 23rd time it has taken place. One of the organisers Lesley Windebank said, “The money that is raised supports The Children’s Society and funds raised are increasing year by year, as people hear about the event and throng into Melksham.
“We are looking for more people to volunteer to open their gardens to the wider, admiring public and to help raise money for a very worthwhile charity. All the arrangements will be made by the local committee of The Children’s Society including publicity, insurance, ticket sales and the all-important cream teas!”
If you would like to join in the fun and open your garden or even bake a cake, please contact Lesley Windebank on 01225 790639 or email, lesleywindebank@blueyonder.co.uk
