MELKSHAM Without Parish Council held their annual meeting on Monday 1st April where over 40 grants were awarded to the community, totalling £24,900.
The council reports, “Over 70 people attended the parish council’s Annual Parish Meeting. It was a great occasion, packed with councillors, residents and volunteers working hard for their communities.
“It gives the opportunity to reflect on the projects that have taken place over the last year and look to the future. We heard from our Wiltshire councillors, Roy While and Phil Alford, as well as the parish council chairman, Richard Wood.
“The new Melksham community engagement manager, Peter Dunford, explained about the work of the Melksham Area Board and Matt Billingham explained about his service working with the more isolated and lonely in our communities.
“There was plenty of networking taking place, with organisations offering services, venues and things to do, and those working with people looking to do more activities.
“The evening finished with some 40+ grants awarded, totalling £24,900. The parish council provides annual grant funding for organisations that demonstrate a benefit to residents of Melksham Without, so not only those in the parish but those in the Town and surrounding villages that provide events and services for parish residents.
“Thank you to Melksham Rugby Club for hosting us, a great venue for a community event.”
