SHAW and Whitley WI held its Christmas meeting recently with a look forward to the new year and live music from a ceilidh band.
Carol Hughes reports, “Our president welcomed us all to the Christmas meeting, which included the vicar of Shaw and some very brave husbands.
“The hall was decorated for Christmas and Sylvia had added some table decorations to give it the extra sparkle.
“We dealt with the business, so much going on, a lot to look forward to in the new year. We also had a Christmas craft table and a chance to buy some very unusual gifts.
“Sylvia then welcomed the Packhorse Ceilidh Band, who were excellent musicians, playing many different instruments including the violin, French bagpipes and more, leaving you feeling very festive.
“The evening ended with a buffet supper, which was a wonderful spread; no-one left hungry, and we had some social time.
Our next meeting will be on 9th January 2017 when our speaker will be Margaret Bowman with a talk titled ‘Oman – Jewel of the Middle East.”
