AN OSTEOPATHY clinic in Melksham recently had special training for working with newborn babies.
The training at Lowbourne Osteopaths included a demonstration of the examination of a newborn baby and looking at the health implications for the baby.
Louise Hull said, “We discussed the midwife’s personal experience of signposting parents to cranial osteopaths in order to help babies who have had difficult births recover from the stresses and strains on their bodies.
“The midwife demonstrated breastfeeding positions and described the advice they give so our osteopaths can pass this on to parents who may be experiencing feeding difficulties with their babies. We also discussed the latest information on tongue tie problems that some babies can experience.
“Osteopaths can assist antenatal and postnatal mothers and their babies who are experiencing aches and pains such as back pain, neck pain and muscular skeletal related headaches.
“Research studies are under way to explore this further.”
