Martial arts students go for black!

ELITE Martial Arts held a belt grading ceremony last month with over 30 students taking part.

Mike Cruse, owner and trainer of Elite Martial Arts said, “We had three students taking part going for their black belt, which is no mean feat! They were assessed by five other black belt instructors – two Taekwondo, one kickboxer, one karate, and myself. All three were successful – they had been training for six years, and put in lots of hard work.

“On the day we had students ranging in age from 6-years-old, teenagers, people in their 20s, 40s, 60s, and one person in their 70s!”

Elite Martial Arts lessons are every Monday at Forest & Sandridge School, with a class for 6 to 9-year olds from 6pm to 7pm; and a senior class from 7pm to 8pm. In Westbury, the club is held at Leigh Park Community Centre on Fridays – the junior class is 6.30pm to 7.30pm; the adult class is 7.30pm to 8.30pm. 

Mike said, “We are a family-friendly martial arts club with classes in Melksham and Westbury. You are never too old to learn Taekwondo – there is a lesson structure to suit all ages and abilities. If you would like to find out if Taekwondo is for you, I have a free beginners’ programme – the first four lessons are free and there is no commitment to sign a contract, and there is no joining fee to pay. A uniform, belt, syllabus, certificate, licence book, membership and grading book all provided for free.

“Our club is going form strength to strength and is growing fast. Maybe you could be our next black belt!

“We are also continuing our annual fundraising. In previous years we have raised money for Children in Need, but for this year we are planning to raise money for Wiltshire Air Ambulance, with a six-hour non-stop training session.”
