Boost for local groups

THREE local charities have benefitted from Asda’s green token scheme, with the winner awarded £500 and runners-up £200. 

The winning charities for the instore green token scheme were Bowerhill Barkers in first place and Melksham Messy Church and Melksham Brownies receiving the runner-up prize. 

Lisa Jenkins, community champion at Asda Melksham said, “The good causes nominate themselves for selection and, if chosen, they then appear on the board for a three-month period – customers are handed a green token each time they go through the checkout and they can use these to vote for their favourite.  The winning charity is awarded £500 and the two runners-up get £200 each.

“If anyone would like to nominate a local not-for-profit charity or good cause to be considered for future quarters, nomination forms are available on the community board in store, or by emailing community_ Melksham@ asda.co.uk.”
