After delaying planning as long as possible, the Melksham Music Festival Committee are sorry to announce that Melksham Party in the Park 2021 has been cancelled.
Bruce Burry from the festival organisers said, “We very much hope that the situation with Covid-19 will improve enormously in the next few months. However, even if the situation has improved, it gives our small team little time to prepare for such a large event, due to planning normally starting eleven months in advance. As there are no guarantees that large gatherings will be permitted in July, we would be taking a financial risk booking acts and securing services and equipment, as well as volunteers dedicating significant time ,with no certainty the event can be permitted to go ahead. It would be impossible for a team our size to ensure any social distancing requirements or Covid-safe working practices, so to cancel has become our only viable option.
“If the latest vaccine forecast is to be met, all adults will be offered the first dose of the vaccine by September, which would be too late for our event in July.
“We would like to thank the people of Melksham for their continual support and hope to see you all in 2022.”
