MEMBERS of the Melksham branch of Probus Club have reestablished themselves after a long period of absence during the pandemic.
Meetings resumed in September with 16 of its members getting back together and enjoying a meal provided for them at the Pig and Whistle pub. The pub has agreed to give the club exclusive access for their luncheon meetings, which occur on the first Tuesday of each month.
“The function of the club is to provide a social environment for all professional and business gentlemen who, in retirement, appreciate and value an opportunity to meet others in similar circumstances”, said Richard Buckland on behalf of the club. “Simple in structure and free from constraints and obligations, Probus stimulates thought and interest and participation at a time in life when horizons are narrowing and opportunities to make new friends are limited.”
