THE town Community Larder, which hands out surplus food, reducing food waste as well as helping families in need, has a new home at the Round House in Church Street.
Melksham Community Larder was opened in July in That Meeting Space, in the Market Place, after discussions between John Firth and Adrienne Westbrook.
Melksham Town Council has now agreed for the Larder to use the Round House, a Grade II listed building, that had been empty for some time.
After meeting with the town clerk, Linda Roberts, it was agreed that the building is perfect for the scheme, with the garden outside being a safe space for people to wait.
A spokesperson from the Community Larder group said, “The first session was held on 29th September and was a great success. The Larder has a core volunteer group of 12 people, but we are always looking for more volunteers. Please pop in and see us on a Monday or Thursday at 4.15pm.
“We are delighted to have been given a grant by Melksham Charities, which will help us grow and support both reducing food waste and helping those families in need of good fresh produce.”
