Melksham recently hosted Wiltshire’s first walking netball tournament, with teams from across the county taking part.
The event was held at Melksham Community Campus on Thursday 13th February and saw players from Calne, Corsham, Melksham, Tidworth and Westbury compete in the tournament, which was organised by community sport and wellbeing officer Rachael Cornish.
Melksham joined forces with neighbouring town Westbury to form a team named Westham. Two players from Westbury tied for Player of the Tournament.
“I was very proud of the Melksham ladies, who won chocolates for the team for playing most in the spirit of the game,” said event host Su Mortimer, who added that quarterly tournaments are planned for the future.
Melksham Walking Netball sessions take place at the Campus on Monday afternoons from 4pm to 5pm. Anyone wishing to find out more can either drop by the sports hall to watch from above or contact Su Mortimer by calling 07719 935883.
