A new fence using recycled materials from King George V Park has been installed at Melksham Cricket Club, thanks to funding from the local Area Board.
In early June, the club was given a Community Area Grant of £5,000 by the Melksham Area Board to assist with the replacement of fencing at the cricket ground by Melksham House.
The fencing project was completed in two phases. In phase one, the club replaced the old entrance gate and fencing with recycled materials from the former net system at King George V Park.
In phase two, the old perimeter fencing, which ran adjacent to the ground and was in a state of disrepair, was replaced to prevent a safety hazard to passing pedestrians during games and to better secure the club’s grounds equipment.
Chairman of Melksham Cricket Club, Gary Burns, said, “We continue to invest in the facilities across the cricket club, and this co-funded project, with the kind support of the Melksham Area Board, has enabled us to take another step forward in our continued aim to provide the best facilities for current and future generations of Melksham cricketers.”
