Sixth-form students at Melksham Oak Community School are celebrating their A level and vocational results today, Thursday 13th August.
This year’s cohort achieved an overall pass rate of 99%, with 58% of grades at A* to B.
The school said the results are its best in five years, with initial reports also indicating that students made above-average progress compared with national figures.
Among the students celebrating are:
• Bella Cousins, who achieved an A*, Distinction* and B and will go on to study Sports Management Coaching at the University of Bath.
• George Hayward, who achieved three As and a B and will study Physiotherapy at Manchester Metropolitan University.
• Ellen Harrold, who achieved an A* and two Bs and has been accepted to train as a police officer from September.
• Amy Perry, who achieved an A*, two As and a B and will study Law at the University of Birmingham, with aspirations of becoming a barrister.
• Skye Maddock, who achieved an A in Sociology among her three passes. She has secured a place to study SEN Education at the University of Gloucestershire from September 2027 and will work as a teaching assistant at a local school until then.
Associate headteacher Abbie Clark said, “These are our best A-Level results for many years, and we are incredibly proud of our students. Their hard work, determination and resilience as well as the unwavering commitment of our staff and the support of our families has been rewarded with an excellent set of outcomes.
“These results reflect not only academic achievement but also the strength of our school community and our shared belief that every student can succeed. They open doors to an exciting range of university courses, apprenticeships and careers, and we look forward to following their future successes.”
Executive headteacher David Cooper said, “I am incredibly proud of all our students and the achievements they have worked so hard to attain. Although we will be sad to see them leave, today is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate their success and recognise all they have accomplished.”
Dr Dan Nicholls, CEO of the White Horse Federation, the multi-academy trust which the school is part of, said, “Congratulations to all our students! We are incredibly proud of the commitment you have shown as well as everything you have achieved.”
