Music fans can explore the story of one of the world’s most influential guitars when a touring theatre show comes to Melksham this month.
50 Years of Fender will visit Melksham Assembly Hall on Thursday 29th October, blending live music and storytelling to explore the influence of the Fender Stratocaster on popular music.
First introduced by Leo Fender in 1954, the guitar has become one of the most recognisable instruments in music, played by generations of guitarists and heard on countless recordings.
The show features music by artists including Bon Jovi, Dire Straits, Buddy Holly, The Shadows, Bryan Adams and Pink Floyd, tracing the instrument’s influence across different musical eras.
Show creator and lead guitarist Dave Phillips said, “We wanted to create a show that celebrates not just the instrument itself, but the stories, innovations and music that made it such an important part of modern culture. Audiences have really connected with that idea, and we’ve been delighted by the response.
“The unique two hour show is presented by charismatic musicians, expert guitarists and a phenomenal vocalist who’s passion for the music and the instrument shines through in the stories of the iconic guitar and the performance of the music. Don’t miss it.”
