SEVEN young carers from Melksham had a break from their caring responsibilities at home with a couple of hours bowling at Christie Millar Sports Centre on Saturday 30th April.
The visit was thanks to a generous donation from Melksham Rotary Club. Jill Bourne of Spurgeons – the children’s charity, said: “This was a great opportunity for young carers in the Melksham area to have some fun and take a break from their caring responsibilities at home. Young carers often don’t get the opportunity to do these sorts of activities due to their family situation.
“It was a fantastic chance for them to get to know other young people in similar situations and to make new friends. We’d like to thank the Rotary club for offering their support and making this generous donation which has made a real difference to these children.”
Sarah Hiscocks, president Melksham Rotary, “As a club Melksham Rotary recognise that some young carers may feel like they miss out because they have to look after a parent or another adult. Or maybe their life may be different because their parents take a lot of time to look after a brother or sister. We are delighted to be able to provide the donation for some fun in Melksham for these young people.”
