The Melksham Makers’ Market returns to the Market Place on Saturday 26th July, bringing with it a fresh batch of creativity, colour and community spirit.
Now in its seventh year, this much-loved local event continues to draw shoppers from near and far – all keen to support small businesses and discover something handmade, thoughtful and totally unique.
Organised by local makers Sarah Hillman, Nicola Coleman and Catherine Carpenter, and supported by Melksham Town Council, the market runs on the last Saturday of the month from April to September (excluding August), with each date bringing a new mix of regular favourites and exciting newcomers.
“People are always surprised by the variety,” says Nicola. “It’s not just crafts – it’s dog treats, fresh bakes, handmade clothing, natural skincare, honey, ceramics, art… and the best coffee in town!”
This month’s stallholders include familiar faces like Happy HoundsBakery, Amanda Humphrey Ceramics, Sandridge Brownies & Bakes, Potterne Honey, Florrie & Jean, Sunflower Macrame, The Holistic Mummy and the award-winning Roc & Floss Coffee – all proudly based in or near Melksham.
But there are new names on the list too: Maple Bear Baby Wear will be bringing the cutest collection of crocheted baby items; Elle Crabtree Calligraphy is showcasing elegant hand-lettered goods that add a special touch to weddings and gifts; and Bramblerose Designs offers vibrant clothing and artwork, all inspired by Wiltshire’s stunning countryside.
“It’s such a joy to see our Market Place transformed into this vibrant, creative space,” says Sarah. “The energy is always brilliant – and we love seeing locals and visitors chatting with makers, supporting small businesses, and just soaking up the atmosphere.
“The market is free to attend, and with around 22 stalls expected, it’s the perfect excuse for a slow Saturday morning wander. Grab a coffee, pick up a gift (or a treat for yourself), and discover something you won’t find on the high street.”
Melksham Makers’ Market is on Saturday 26th July in Melksham Market Place from 9am – 2pm.
