Earlier in the year, the Art House Cafe in the centre of town, run by the Rotary Club of Melksham, celebrated the huge achievement of raising over £100,000 for charity.
Beyond the roadworks, through the archway, next to the town hall, the cafe has an ever changing and popular exhibition of works of art by local artists.
Members of art groups and clubs normally exhibit their work here together but unusually, this month, David Nutt has a one man show of his paintings. The subjects are interesting and there is variety too in media and in technique with something here for everybody. ‘The Corner Shop’ is a fine piece of social comment for example. Nearly all the paintings on show are for sale and many at reasonable prices. Through buying a picture you are supporting a local artist and you have the satisfaction of knowing that a proportion of your purchase cost will go to a deserving charity.
The cafe continues to provide a pleasant place to sit and contemplate the works of art while enjoying good food and service with a cup of tea or coffee in peaceful and quiet surroundings. The exhibition lasts until the end of the month. Don’t miss it!
