With a full programme of exhibitions already booked, we are looking forward to a lively, varied and interesting year at the Art House Cafe. Organiser of the artwork, Pattie Lockett says, “2019 begins with three artists we already know and admire, and one new exhibitor.
“Jean Perrett admits to being an “obsessive painter” and her work is well known at the cafe, but also in Devizes, where she is a member of the Lawrence Society. She has also exhibited her work in other galleries in Wales and Wiltshire and in the National Trust magazine.
“Hayley Jones is a teacher of art and design who has also exhibited widely in the area. She says that her aim is to produce artwork that brightens up a room and to bring a smile to each and every person who sees it.
“John Duckett developed his interest in art at school in Bath. Self taught, he works mainly with watercolours, although also with pen and ink and acrylics on occasions. He is a member of both Potterne and Corsham art groups.
“A newcomer to the Art House Cafe Gallery, James Bain is an amateur portrait artist working from his home studio near Chippenham. He is currently focusing on the methods promoted by Sargent and is trying to paint and draw more from life.
“In February, we shall be delighted to welcome members of the Lawrence Society of Art for the first time. The society was founded in 1953 and named after Sir Thomas Lawrence (1769 – 1830), the famous royal portrait painter. Their aim is to foster interest in art by lectures, demonstrations, classes, outings, workshops and a major annual exhibition – and now an exhibition at the Art House Cafe! The next two months promise an exciting start to the year. See you there!”
