THERE was an unusual sight at Melksham’s parkrun last week when a panto dame and a very tall teddy bear joined the 113 participants!
The duo, Steve Forbes and Alex Dadson, members of Melksham Music and Drama (MMAD), entertained spectators and passers-by with their antics, running in costume to promote their pantomime ‘Ali Baba and his forty thieves’.
Alex plays Scheherazade the Storyteller and Steve plays Sheikh Mustafa Leikh the Chief Thief.
“The show is very funny,” said a MMAD spokesperson, “just like these guys. So if you’ve never seen one of MMAD’s pantomimes then do come along and join the fun, we would love to see you.
“It was great to see so many runners out on such a cold morning, well done to everyone that took part. The parkrun volunteers do an awesome job each week, making sure this event runs smoothly.”
The show opens on Friday 18th February. There are performances on Saturday 19th February and the following weekend on Friday 25th February and Saturday 26th February. Friday’s performances start at 7.30pm and Saturday’s performances start at 2.30pm and 7.30pm, doors open half hour before show starts.
Tickets for Ali Baba can be purchased at the Melksham Tourist Information Centre, or visit the Ticketsource website: www.ticketsource.co.uk/mmad/e-brgzvp. More details on centre pages.
