SHAW and Whitley Friendship Club is preparing for another busy year ahead, but would like to invite new members to join.
Dianne Briggs from club said, “We were visited last week by Jacqui from Asda, who are looking to see if they can help us in some way as we are a self-funding charity.
“We meet every Wednesday at Shaw Village Hall at The Beeches where we provide a two-course meal, cooked on the premises using fresh ingredients, for only £3.50. Members arrive any time after 10.15am to have tea or coffee with a biscuit (40p/50p) and then play cards, Scrabble, dominos or just to chat before lunch, served at 12noon.
“After lunch we play bingo, with a tea break before leaving to go home at 2.30pm.
“Unfortunately, a few of our members are not well enough to come any more, so we have spaces for new members. We would welcome new members, so contact Dianne on 01225 708840 or Sylvia on 01225 708135.
“We have lots of trips coming up including a visit to the Lavender Farm with a lavender scone cream tea, canal trip with tea and cake on board, trips to Weymouth and Dobbies Garden Centre in Cirencester and a pantomime visit in December.
“This year we will celebrate 38 years since the club started, with a special three-course meal with wine/juice. All these “treats” are free to members, who agree to pay £1 per week for the privilege.
“If you are interested, why not come along to Shaw Village Hall and join us for our first coffee morning this year, to celebrate Easter, on Wednesday 25th April. “
