Melksham Town Council has been named ‘Small Business Apprentice Employer of the Year’ by Wiltshire College.
The council currently has three apprentices that work within its town hall team, amenities team and the Assembly Hall team.
Accepting the award on behalf of the town council, mayor cllr Pat Aves said, “On behalf of Melksham Town Council, I am delighted to receive this wonderful award for Small Apprentice Employer of the Year. As mayor of Melksham, I am incredibly proud of our three apprentices, Alex Bolton in the Assembly Hall team, Dean Goddard in the amenities team and Taylor Robinson in the Town Hall team, and it is great to have this opportunity to celebrate and recognise them with this award.
“Our apprentices have become a valuable part of our council staff team, learning from colleagues and improving their skills while contributing greatly to the work of the council. Alex is completing her second apprenticeship with us, and Taylor has the added achievement of being nominated by her tutor for the national apprenticeship award!
“It is a great credit to their hard work that Melksham Town Council has been recognised for this award and we thank the apprentices for their enthusiasm, dedication and commitment.
“Thanks must also go to the council staff who have mentored them and provided a diverse range of tasks to create the experience required for their qualifications. Thank you also to their tutors who have been guiding them through their assessments, and to Wiltshire College for recognising their achievements with this fantastic award.
“We are so proud that these three young people chose to begin their careers with the town council, and we hope this award, and everything they have learned here, will help them on their way to a bright and successful future.”
