Community Champion at Asda Melksham, Lisa Jenkins, has been working with Mel from Re:Fresh to be able to provide a collection point for basic hygiene items for young people in our local schools.
Lisa says, “It is so important that all our young people have access to basic hygiene products that most of us take for granted. A lot of these people are missing days in school, turning down interviews and isolating themselves from social events because they do not have access to these items – this is such a simple way we can help to make sure our young people feel equal and able to continue on in their education and social environments.”
The collection basket is set up at the front of the store next to the security podium and is already proving a huge success.
Items required are: sanitary protection, shampoo, shower gels, toothpaste and toothbrushes, hair brushes and combs, soap, shaving foams/gels.
