A stunning collection of images taken by Jim Marsden over many years on the subject of autumn, provided the opening to the September meeting of Atworth Camera Club, held on Monday 25th.
His work featured the wonderful colours that this time of year brings. Many were from Westonbirt with a number also from Bolderwood in the New Forest. Some of these had been enhanced using techniques such as Photoshop filters.
This was followed by an illustrated talk on capturing images of autumn mists. Derek Mason told us about the best times, such as dawn, and places (ponds, lakes, streams) to find such subjects and how they too can be manipulated in Photoshop to bring out the details we all hope to capture.
After the break for tea and biscuits, Derek showed some images that he had taken with his micro 4:3 camera (Olympus M10) and its various interchangeable lenses, flashguns, etc. He described the main features of these and pointed out the added benefit of its being considerably lighter than his DSLR (Nikon D800).
The club is planning an outing to Silk Wood in Westonbirt on Sunday 22nd October to support their season’s theme “Images of Autumn”, with members’ pictures to be shown at the November meeting.
The programme for the meeting on October 30th is; audio visual slide shows – Bridget Sawyer, followed by members’ images of summer (left over from a previous meeting).
Alan Lee from the club says, “This will be held in the Atworth Village Hall & Institute at 7.30pm, as it always is on the last Monday of each month. All are welcome, however experienced or otherwise – we aim to provide items of interest whatever your ability. There is no annual membership fee, just £2 per meeting, which includes tea/coffee and biscuits.”
