THE White Hart at Atworth is hosting the ‘Atworth on Show’ event and live music in the coming weeks for all the community to get involved with.
This Sunday, 29th September, the White Hart will host the annual ‘Atworth on Show’. Categories at this year’s show include vegetables, fruit, baking, preserves, gin, crafts, flowers, and categories for children.
Entry costs £1 for adults and 50p for children. All monies raised will go towards future community projects including the completion of the community bowles green located at the White Hart.
Organisers say, “We are super excited to see Atworth on Show back in a new home, we’ve had a few changes, but the show still promises to be as good as it’s always been.
“Everyone is entitled to enter and this year there are three age categories for our younger residents: 6 years and under, 6– 10 years and 11- 15 years. Of course children may also enter adult classes too.
“Entry forms (one per person) must be completed and applicable fees paid by 9pm on Wednesday 25th September (this is due to preshow organisation needs). Please note entries will not be accepted after this date. Entry forms can be dropped off at the White Hart or posted (The White Hart, Bath Road, Atworth SN12 8JR) Any extra entry forms needed can also be downloaded from the White Hart’s website or collected from the pub.
“On the day, the skittle alley, alongside the White Hart, will be open at 2pm for anyone who wishes to come along to view the entries (admission will be free but we would welcome any donations).
“Winners will be announced and certificates, prizes and trophies handed out at 2pm. The winner and runner-up of the ‘Atworth Christmas Card Design’ will have their design made into sets of cards ready for this Christmas to sell.
“After this, candidates will be free to remove their entries unless they would like to contribute them to the subsequent auction (to start at around 3.30pm) to help raise further monies for community projects: so bring plenty of dosh for your auction bids and raffle tickets! Terrific fun that has to be experienced to be believed!”
On Sunday 6th October, from 5-7pm, the White Hart acoustic solo singer, Steve Robinson, will entertain the crowds. Organisers say, “A fantastic singer with buckets of experience and talent. Playing a unique selection of covers, from the Beatles to Bob Marley, his versatility means that he can also perform requests, just ask! One things for sure you’ll have a seriously fun afternoon out with a good time guaranteed for all ages.”
