Atworth WI held their April meeting on the 15th at Lowden. Pat Ruffell, our new President, welcomed 25 members and a visitor.
After the business part of the meeting, we had coffee/tea and cake before we had a demonstration of possible ways of celebrating Easter through the use of plants and flowers in our home.
Christine, who works at Lowden, showed us several ways of using cut flowers, bulbs in pots, fresh spring greenery, twigs, moss, cuttings from shrubs and ferns on a variety of bases and containers to make a decoration for Easter. The results were beautiful and very original, sometimes adding a few tiny Easter eggs as a finishing touch. There was something for everyone to try and Christine encouraged us to have a go at home. Christine loves working with plants and flowers and made it look so easy. Two of our members were fortunate to win a draw to choose one of the arrangements.
Our next meeting is on Monday 20th May, when we will be choosing the Resolution that we want to be discussed at the AGM in Bournemouth in June. We will also be having a sales table to help with funds.
