SUPERHERO fans raised over £750 for charity at a unique ‘Evening with Bruce Wayne’ roleplay event, which saw Batman face off against evil at Melksham’s own Assembly Hall.
The evening saw actors in the roles of Batman comic characters play out a dramatic scenario, while the audience took the role of Gotham City locals at a Black Tie event.
£761 was raised on the night for the RUH’s NICU and maternity unit, and a similar amount was raised to contribute to this year’s Comic Con, which is organised by the same team.
Organiser and owner of Komix! in Melksham, Hayley Spencer said, “The evening was a phenomenal success, and the feedback we’ve been getting is nothing short of incredible. Our team of volunteers are exhausted, but very pleased and proud of their achievements this year.

“We have so many people to thank, and we’d be here for ages if we did, but everyone who volunteered their time, energy and equipment are incredible people and our town is so much better for them. Paul Weymouth and Light Fantastic did an awesome job as always, our house band who blew everyone away with their fantastic renditions of both easy listening tunes and rock music all night, and our actors; without them the night just wouldn’t have been possible, and they stayed in character for the whole thing, which was incredible.
“Melksham may be a little town, but the Melksham Comic-Con volunteers don’t do things by halves, and we are very grateful so many people turned out to support us. Our fundraisers have now become events in their own right on the town’s calendar, an achievement we are humbly proud of, and will aim to continue!”
