BRING your dancing shoes to Melksham Conservative Club next month, when the local Blue Moon Band performs on Saturday 8th June.
Made up of local musicians hailing from various Wiltshire towns, including Melksham, The Blue Moon Band will play an electric mix of pop, rock, soul and funk covers from the 1960s to the noughties.
“Included in their repertoire are songs by the Rolling Stones, Stevie Wonder, Van Morrison, Queen, Tina Turner, Amy Winehouse, Santana, The Killers and Procol Harem,” said Mary Morrison, one of the organisers from the Conservative Club.
“The band was formed in March 2001 by drummer Stew Bennet and consists of five members: Stew, Richard on guitar, Stuart on bass guitar, Graham on keyboards and Beverley on vocals. They are all seasoned musicians who’ve played in several bands since their teenage years. Initially called the Beverley May Band, the band followed ABBA’s lead using a backwards ‘B’ in its BMB logo, which was emblazoned on Stew’s drums.
“When changing their name, it made sense to choose a name with the initials BMB. Several names were considered but the name Blue Moon Band won the day!
“Something for everyone. Remember the date. The Blue Moon Band will be playing at Melksham Conservative Club on Saturday 8th June from 8:30 pm, get ready to party!”
