A NEW club for anyone interested in learning and playing board games is starting soon in Bowerhill.
Board Not Bored is being set up by Gavin Owen who got the idea after teaching a friend to play Backgammon. He said, “He was stuck at home with a broken ankle so I asked him if he would like to learn how to play Backgammon so we had something to do whilst we chatted, and he said yes.
“When I told a mutual acquaintance about this she said how nice it would be if there was a club where people could learn to play new games and enjoy them together. I thought it was such a great idea that I decided there and then to give it a go.”
Gavin has booked a room in Bowerhill Village Hall on Wednesday afternoons from 2.00 to 4.00pm, and the first session of Board Not Bored will take place on Wednesday 14th August.
Gavin said, “I’ll be showing people how to play Backgammon in the first week. After that we’ll see how it goes and what games people would like to learn. The important thing is that the games we choose are fun and sociable – making new friends will be just as important as learning new games.”
Admission to the club will be free but donations are welcome and refreshments will be available. If you would like to know more about Board Not Bored you can call or text Gavin on 07788 446567.
