THE second Box Ukulele Festival will be held next weekend to raise money for Dorothy House Hospice.
The event is being organised by local ukulele group, The Mother Pluckers. The band says, “The festival is a family friendly, fun-filled event which we hope will be even bigger and better than last year. With all profits going to Dorothy House Hospice, we are aiming to beat last year’s total of £2,700. With bands old and new playing everything from rock and roll, disco and the good ol’ blues, you’ll even hear some rap; no decade of music is safe!
“There will be a songbook for strum-alongs throughout the day so bring along your ukulele and join in with the crowd. With happy ukulele sounds, delicious food, plenty to drink and a great village location, this is a festival for music lovers young and old.”
The line-up includes The Strummingbirds, The Mighty Lemons, Ship of Fools, The Red Bandits and much, much more.
The event takes place on Saturday 14th July at the Queen’s Head, High Street, Box, from 1pm until 10pm. Entrance is £5 for adults, children under 16 go free. All proceeds will be donated to local charity, Dorothy House Hospice Care.
