MELKSHAM Oak School’s principal, Alan Henderson, has said that the school is heading in ‘the right direction’ and is dedicated to ‘improving outcomes’ for all its students.
The principal has made the statement in response to the publication last week of the secondary school league tables, which reports that Oak students achieved a ranking of ‘average progress’ for their GCSE and A-level results, compared to other schools in England.
Principal Alan Henderson, told Melksham News, “League tables reflect only one part of the broad educational experience we provide to our students at Melksham Oak Community School. We are proud to deliver a broad curriculum, and students benefit from an impressive range of creative and sporting opportunities throughout their school life.
“As a school, we are always looking for ways to enhance our offering and make sure Melksham Oak is the absolute best it can be. Our whole school community is dedicated to making continued progress at our school and further improving outcomes for our students.
“Since my appointment in September, we have made changes to our school’s core values in order to facilitate these improvements. We expect all our students and staff to respect themselves, each other, and their community; to have the ambition to achieve highly; and to take pride in everything they do.
“We have also recently instituted our new behaviour policy, ‘The Melksham Oak Way’, which ensures that expectations and standards at Melksham Oak are understood and taken onboard by all our students. We have already been very impressed with how well our students have responded and the impact the new policy is having at the school.
“I am confident that, through the continued commitment of the whole school community, the changes we have made will continue to take Melksham Oak in the right direction.”
