BROUGHTON Gifford Parish Council is now the proud owner of a brand new snow plough thanks to a grant from Scottish and Southern Electric (SSE).
Parish Clerk Mary Jarvis said, “We are delighted to now have a snow plough for the village. We are quite out of the way and when there is bad snow, we’re far down on the list of places Wiltshire Council need to clear. Now we can clear the roads safely and get people on their way if they are snowed in.
“We would like to say a big thank you to SSE for the grant. We do have a small amount of money left over so hopefully we will also be able to buy a grit bin.
“We don’t want any snow because it is quite disruptive, but if we do, the village is prepared which is wonderful.”
