Are you a keen young photographer? Just send in three of your photographs and you could make it through to the final of a national competition.
The Melksham News has teamed up with Melksham Rotary Club to offer you the chance to enter the Rotary Young Photographer Competition.
The theme of this year’s competition is ‘Light up the Community’. Your subject matter can be anything you would like to tie in with the theme – and with Christmas coming up there are plenty of opportunities to take some great pictures.
Photographs can be in black and white or colour and each original image should be around 5mb.
There are three age groups for the competition: • Junior: seven to 10 years old • Intermediate: 11 to 13 years old • Senior: 14 to 17 years old. Your qualifying age is the age you were on 31st August this year.
If your photographs include people under 18 you will need their parents permission for your photographs to go on to the next stage of the competition.
To enter – Send an email with subject ‘Rotary Young Photographer’ to news@melkshamnews.co.uk
Include: Your name and age • Contact telephone number • Attach three of your best photos as jpegs – (please send small copies of your images around 1mb) • and in 50 words or less a description of your inspiration for the images.
The competition closes on Friday 16th January 2015 at 5.00pm. The entries will be judged by the team at the Melksham News along with members of Melksham Rotary.
The three winners will each be entered in to the District heat of the competition – competing with entries from all over the West Country. They will receive prizes supplied by Melksham Rotary Club. The winning pictures will also be featured in the Melksham News in the New Year and be displayed in the Rotary Art House Café.
