ARE you a keen young artist who loves to paint or draw? Then why not enter your work into a local art competition?
Melksham Rotary Club is running a junior artist competition for budding artists in Melksham and this year’s competition theme is ‘Our Town’.
Warwick Allen from the Rotary Club said, “As Melksham Rotary has been running the ArtHouse Cafe for over four years, we thought it was time to try and increase community involvement with the project. One of the ways we thought we could do this was to promote an art competition for the young people of the town and surrounding villages.
“We are hoping that the resulting work will be a celebration of Melksham and the surrounding areas and will showcase the talents of our young people and encourage young artists in the community.”
Entries can be in paint, crayon, charcoal, flat collage or computer generated. There are three age groups for the competition: seven to nine years, ten to twelve years and thirteen to fifteen years. Your qualifying age is the age you were on 1st September 2015.
The competition is now open with the closing date of 16th January 2016. Contestants will need to register their entry with their name, age, email address and/or phone number as soon as possible. Details can be sent to arthousemelksham@gmail.com or complete an entry form and forward the details to Melksham Rotary.
Finished entries can be dropped off or posted to the ArtHouse Cafe between the 5th and 16th January. The cafe is open from 9.30am – 3pm Monday to Saturday.
Winners will receive a cash prize and their work will be exhibited alongside the regular exhibitions of local artists on show at the ArtHouse Cafe in March.
